The Alaskan Malamute Club of Wisconsin participates in various Holiday Parades in November. Members have dressed up to fit the theme of the Northern Breed. Typically we get 10 to 15 dogs walking in the parades. New additions to our "props" in the parade for 2001 were a sled with wheels with a team of 2 dogs, and a small circus wagon with puppies.
Children (and even a few adults) watching the parades are excited when they see us coming down the street. It is a great socialization time for the dogs, and a great way to inform the public about the breed. We have answered many questions about the breed at the parades, and are always happy to do so.
The 2007 parade schedule is listed below. We will have maps to the staging areas (for participants) posted as they become available.
